"ContElon device was developed with the aim of deeper understanding of properties of the yarns, especially from the perpective of internal structure of the yarn and consequent mechanical properties. Standard methods are based mainly on microscopic observations of yarn cuts or destructive tensile tests of relativelly long parts of yarn. Our approach makes possible to measure some parameters continually on very small parts of yarn (fractions of fiber length) on long parts of yarn, typically at least 1km. Such a way it is possible to analyse the course of these parameters along the yarn, periodicity can be searched or other means of yarn unevenness analyzed, even random and low frequent events can be detected. Observed parameters are especially local relative elongation of the yarn loaded with some force, and Young's modulus calculated out of that. Instant yarn diameter is also measured."@en . . . .
