"Simulated high-salinity eluates from exchange resins were denitrified using Lentikats Biocatalyst with immobilized Paracoccus denitrificans. Effect of concentrations of salts and nitrates on the activity of denitrification was followed in batch experiments; however none of the factors was found significant in tested concentrations. Contrary denitrification activity systematically decreased over time due to a lack of nutrients in eluates disabling regeneration of immobilized culture. Integration of regeneration steps into the process on occasions enabled regeneration of the culture and repetitive long-term applicability of the biocatalyst.
