"This study investigates the influence of different lengths of sticks on individual energy expenditure in Nordic walking. The various sources dealing with this subject is given different coefficients for length settings poles, which are quite different. We thought that this difference in the length of a stick, could have a significant impact not only on the actual energy expenditure of an individual, but also on other parameters measured. Tested were 9 purposely selected probands who had been with the movement already experienced. The actual testing was carried out in laboratory conditions on a treadmill, which were recorded during testing, the value of heart rate (HR), maximum heart rate (HRmax), maximal lung ventilation (VE), breathing frequency (BF) and the main indicator of energy expenditure VO2. VO2 values ??were then converted to calories, as indicators of energy intensity. Based on the Wilcoxon test, we investigated whether or not, these values ??between the measurements of the statistical differences. From the measured values ??and the subsequent statistical analysis we concluded that the length of the rod has a significant influence on the energy expenditure of an individual. The difference was statistically significant only for values ??of respiratory rate, but these facts seem not to draw any conclusions." .
