"The paper deals with an experiment that was conducted at the Faculty of Production Technology and Management of Jan Evangelista Purkyn\u011B University in \u00DAst\u00ED nad Labem, when was machined alloy AlSi7Mg0,3 (Tab. 1). Samples were made for machining from the master alloy AlSi7Mg0,3, when three samples were produced only from master alloy, without subsequent modification, and three samples which were subsequently modified by strontium. This paper describes the the evaluation of chips, which was created after machining samples from modified and unmodified alloy. The chip was evaluated in term of its size and shape (Fig. 1) and was evaluated potential modification effect for chips. The experiment was as mentioned above implemented in FPTM JEPU, samples were prepared (Fig. 2) and the realization of the experiment was performed using equipment of FPTM (Fig. 3, 4, Tab. 2). To evaluate the shape and dimensions were chosen from each casting three regions from which it was removed always ten pieces of chips. These sites were chosen according to the cast diameter and it was always about interval. The first place was in diameters 60 to 50 mm, the other in 48 to 34 mm and in the last 32 to 14 mm. All measurements were carried out on the unit Olympus SZX 10. For each casting was measured thirty pieces of chips (Fig. 5-8). Size of chips was measured in a manner illustrated in Figure 8, and the measured average results are shown in Table 3. In Figure 9 and 10 are graphs of realized measurements. The aim of the experiment was to find out what will be the effect of alloys AlSi7Mg0,3 modification by strontium to the machining process, namely the shape and size of the chips. From the measured results of the experiment can be observed that strontium modifying the parameters chips almost unaffected. The chip was for all diameters and for all castings always very similar and with little variation. The above described experiment is part of a larger set of experiments."@en .
