"The adapters for utilization of the laser distance meter Leica Disto have been designed in order to independently control the measurements in the BOTDA measuring line. This control measurement is “non-force” and is appropriate to be used particularly with line-wise BOTDA installations in soils, even in case of large distances between anchor points of the measuring line. The adapters for the laser distance measurement on the anchor points of line-wise BOTDA installations are used for the determination of distances between particular anchor points and subsequently for the control of their changes during comparative measurements. There are two adapters of laser distance meter: - The adapter for the laser distance meter with attached joint-head from the producer - The rotary adapter with supporting plate for reflective surface for the laser distance meter On the first anchor point of the line-wise installation (where the measuring optical cable is fastened) the laser distance meter is attached by the first adapter, on the following anchor point the reflective plate is attached by the second adapter. In this configuration it is possible to perform the accurate measurement of distance between particular couples of anchor points and also their changes in the measuring BOTDA line. The adapters are sequentially moved through the measuring line from its beginning. Usually the measurement is done in the direction of increasing chainage of the measuring line and the measured values are recorded. The positions of adapters during the measurement are also recorded to be the same as during the previous measurement series. The assembly and removal are easy with a help of a simple rod-wrench. The control measurement with the laser distance meter is faster than the measurement with the convergence belt and, according to the magnitude of deformations (slopes and open ground), the accuracy is totally sufficient.
