"Determination of location parameter of the measuring optical line is necessary to determine the start and the end including all the important points of the measuring section of the optic cable which have to be assigned to the cable chainage in the analyser output. One option is to induce a short-time strain on selected sector of the measuring cable. It is necessary to 0,6 m of an accessible cable which can be either attached point-wise or temporarily freely embedded. In the selected part of the cable is pre-stressing under control and the strain is kept constant during the measurement time (order of minutes). The strain has to be sufficient to result in a visible response on the cable through the analyser and it cannot cause any permanent change on the cable. The holding fixture for controlled and fast cable pre-stressing has been designed, tested and used during the research project. The basic element of the fixture for controlled pre-stressing of the cable for determination of location parameter of the measuring line is a robust clamp spreader. The added constant strain of the cable is realized on the spreader base, which is longer than the length of the scanning step. The fixed and the sliding cantilevers are adjusted in order to expand the fixed section of the spreader. The plastic protection plates of the spreader have been removed and replaced by screwed duralumin profiles carrying couples of anchorage plates for the optical measuring cable. The SmartProfile has been used during the research project. The constant strain can be reliably set in a sufficient range according to the analyser specifications but does not affect the optical cable. The location of the product according to the part of the structure or the attachment point has to be measured and recorded in the documentation. This location can also be connected with the chainage marked by the producer on the cable."@en .
