"clime change, threats assessment, cities and regions"@en . . . "The article focuses on the issues of the real impacts of climate change on the functioning of villages, towns and regions and on the consequences regarding safety and security brought about by this change. The article deals with searching for a way of defining and measuring threats, which hand in hand with the progression of the consequences of climate change may appear in towns, villages and regions of the Czech Republic. On the basis of the analysis of the existing theoretical findings, a typology of the threats connected with climate change to Czech towns, villages and regions has been introduced. This typology serves as a basis for the evaluation of threats connected with climate change applying the DELPHI2 expert method (verified in a pilot study for the city of Hradec Králové). The thesis has shown that it is possible to establish a generally applicable set of threats, connected with the impact of climate change, regarding the safety and security, on villages, towns and regions in the Czech Republic and by means of this set to evaluate the type and size of the threats for the given area. The assessment of the type and degree of the threat is only the first step, which must be followed by the preparation of a proposal of measures - the so-called travel maps, leading to the resistance and adaptation of villages, towns and regions in connection with the impacts of climate change."@en .
