The aim of this work was to evaluate different grassland managements from the viewpoint of utilization of biomass for combustion. A small-plot trial was established in the locality of Rapot\u00EDn (Czech Republic) in 2003. It was managed during seven years with four levels of grassland utilization: intensive, medium intensive, low intensive and extensive. Four levels of fertilization were applied for each utilization treatment: nil-fertilization, P30K60, N90P30K60, and N180P30K60 (pure nutrients). Nitrogen (N) fertilization and decreasing intensity of utilization significantly increased dry matter (DM) yield up to 8.0 t/ha. The content of crude protein also increased with N fertilization up to 176.7 g/kg DM (intensively utilized treatment). The ash concentration was significantly higher in the intensive and medium intensive treatments (106.4 g/kg DM on average) than in low intensive and extensive treatments (93.3 g/kg DM on average), whereas the influence of fertilization was not significant." .
