Samples were subjected to microbiological analysis which focused on isolation, characterization, identification and test of probiotic properties. 56 samples from 27 patients were collected and 890 strains were isolated. Using PCR methods, 690 isolates were classified into 4 genera: 413 to Bifidobacterium, 217 to Lactobacillus, 56 to Streptococcus and 4 to Pseudomonas. 200 isolates is still remaining unclassified. The isolates from biopsy samples are characterized in terms of resistance to low pH using a classical plate count method and flow cytometry (FC). Regarding the comparison of plate count method and FC to determine the number of cells after cultivation at low pH (3), the numbers obtained by FC were higher. There was a significant correlation between the number of viable cells cultivated in broth containing bile salts (0.3, 0.7 and 1%) using plate count method and FC."@en . . .
