"In the small field plot trial in The Research Institute for fodder crops the influence of the cadmium and lead in soil on overhead biomass yield of non-traditional fodder crops was examined. Experimental crops were: safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.), fenugreek (Trigonella foenum \u2013 graecum L.), fodder mallow (Malva verticillata L.), rye (Secale cereale L. var. multicaule METZG. ex ALEF), white sweet clover (Melilotus alba L.).Four conditions of the trial were conducted: I. without the contamination; II. without the contamination with compost; III. heavy metals with compost; IV. heavy metals without compost.The highest total yield of overhead biomass was in safflower and white sweet clower. In conditions with added heavy metals the positive effect of compost in white sweet clower, fodder mallow and fenugreek was found.
