Majority of tunnel was expected to be excavated by tunnel boring machines (TBMs). Risk analysis evaluating tunnel excavation and operations submitted design concept was also realised, possible high hydrostatic pressure was identified as one of major risks, which has to be evaluated. The design assumed impermeable segmental tunnel lining with full hydrostatic pressure. Exact position of underground water table was not clear, in the worst case the water table can be close to surface with the full hydrostatic pressure acting on the tunnel lining (ie. water table up to 170 m above the tunnel axis). Impact of various values hydrostatic pressure on required tunnel lining was investigated.
