. "The aim of this work was to eliminate viruses from the basic plant material of apple, pear and sweet cherry for the system of certification. The elimination of viruses was carried out by in vitro thermotherapy at 39 \u00B0C and in vitro chemotherapy with ribavirin. The presence of viruses and phytoplasmas in initial trees of selected cultivars was detected by ELISA and PCR testing before the beginning of thermotherapy and chemotherapy. Based on the repeated testing, PDV was detected in sweet cherry cultivars \u00B4Marta\u00B4 and \u00B4Amid\u00B4. Plants of apple cultivar \u00B4Fragrance\u00B4 were infected with ACLSV, ASGV and ASPV. Pear cultivars \u00B4Omega\u00B4, \u00B4Dita\u00B4 and apple cultivar \u00B4Clijo\u00B4 were infected with ASPV. All cultivars were successfully multiplied in in vitro cultures and sanitated from viruses. The highest multiplication coefficient (8.1) was noted for apple cultivar \u00B4Fragrance\u00B4 on MS medium with BAP (6-benzylaminopurin) 4 mg . l-1. We recommend chemotherapy with ribavirin at concentration 20 - 40 mg . l-1 as standard, more reliable and efficient from two basic tested methods (thermotherapy and chemotherapy). It is possible to use higher concentration of ribavirin up to 100 mg . l-1 or repeated treatment in the case of mixed infections of more viruses.
