"The aim of this study was to investigate the interaction between lead ions and ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) in plasma. EDTA is widely used in medicine as anticoagulant agent. Understanding of the influence of EDTA on the electrochemical lead ions determination is very suitable for the determination of lead ions at patients with increased metals levels in body fluids. Further, the changes of metal ions levels (Zn, Cd, Pb and Cu) were monitored in the blood plasma of child patients treated for various oncological diseases. Electrochemical method differential pulse voltammetry with fully automated system and atomic absorption spectrometry was used for determination of the metal ions. It was found an increased amount of metal ions in the blood plasma of patients suffering from cancer disease in comparison with physiological values in healthy people. In these patients there was also found that they have higher levels of metallothionein and the ratio of GSH/GSSG was reduced. These results suggest"@en . . . "Kizek, Ren\u00E9" . "9" . .
