"The aim of the article is to approach the two most commonly used methods for determining the age of the elements of wooden structures and eliminate their disadvantages combining them. The methods of dendrochronological and radiocarbon dating method in our climate are briefly summarized. The content of the article is a description of each method principle and use methods of in the survey of structures o f organic materials - timber . Dendrochronological method is described from its origin through the stages of its development and beginning in Czechoslovakia dating to the methodology and its databases. Radiocarbon method is mentioned since its inception in the mid of 20th century, through the description of carbon isotope C14 in the atmosphere and store it in living organisms to the measuring principle decay of carbon in dead cells.
