"Cluster analysis plays an important role in many scientific fields e.g. computer sciences, mathematics and statistics, economics and marketing through to biology and medicine. Measuring the similarity of the analyzed objects is an essential component of the algorithms used in cluster analysis. When selecting an appropriate method for measuring the similarity of objects, the nature of the analyzed data should be taken into account. This article describes the most widely used techniques for measuring similarity of quantitative variables and the impact of data represented in different intervals of values for these methods. This article aims to show the sensitivity of the methods used to measured data. The result of the survey can help in selecting appropriate methods for measuring similarity of quantitative data."@en .
