"The aim of our research group is the monitoring of the MR fluids degradation during long-term loading, The monitored parameters are loading force, temperature, shear rate, amount of dissipation energy, magnetization current and number of cycles. To meet the above objectives any commercially available rheometer cannot be used. Even the piston slit rheometer does not comply with the requirement for long-term loading. Therefore it was necessary to design brand new rheometer. The requirements for the rheometer were determined as follows, easy fitting to any mechanical or hydraulic pulsator, easy dismantling and decontamination, capability to reach high shear rates, accurate temperature measurement in the slit and low purchase and operating costs.
