"Modification of Al-Al2O3 composite with small quantity of Al2O3"@en . "In the contribution there are collected results of experiments aimed at the detection and comparison of basic mechanical properties of composite materials with the graduated volume content of short fibers. The first group of materials includes low volume of component Al2O3 (0.1 to 1%). In this case, the effect of fibers on the mechanical parameters showed increase for a content of more than 0,5% of Al2O3. The results of the follow-up the second part of the experiments on the samples from composites with a content of 1 to 5% of Al2O3 were adversely affected by the significant structural inhomogeneity of casted ingots. The measured parameters are in this case, lower than for the materials with lower contents of the strengthening fibers. This result has been found for both static and fatigue tests. The results of the mechanical tests are complemented by basic metallographic and fractographic analyses of tested materials surfaces.
