"The role of Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOPs) in foundry engineering consist of reduction amount of toxic emissions and improving mechanical properties of bentonite moulding mixtures. These methods are based on effects of oxidants and external sources of energy reacting with water and componets in moulding sands. Organic compounds of pyrolytic reactions of seacoal (benzene, toluene, xylenes and others), resin binders, deactivated bentonite and other substances contaminate the moulding sands. The oxidants in ultrasonic aditated water, and added to bentonite sand by mulling, will react with and destroy these deposits. This cleaning of the particles will reactivate clay and sand particle with increasing the sand strength. The green compressive strength of bentonite sand will be improved, the performance in moulding system will be better.
