Due to their specific properties, geopolymers show a high potential mainly for special applications. Rehabilitation of reinforced concrete structures exposed to extreme conditions is a field in which it is possible to effectively take advantage of geopolymers' exceptional properties. One of the necessary steps to ensure adequate service life of structures is their continuous maintenance and in the case of once damaged structures, their rehabilitation. Materials showing a much higher resistance to chemical substances in comparison with a cement matrix are so-called geopolymers. Their high resistance to the effects of corrosive environments (such as action of chemically aggressive substances, high temperatures, etc.) provides the prerequisite for their very efficient employment within the repair materials destined to these extreme conditions."@en .
