"Brno" . "The paper is aimed to study of parameters affecting cracks width in concrete. Generally, cracks in concrete can be considered as negative effect. They can damage surface of structure, reduce lifespan and may decline serviceability. Thus, quantity and crack width should be reduced to minimum. According to the way of concrete tensile stress generation we can divide cracks caused by external load, cracks caused by shrinkage of concrete and cracks caused by temperature fluctuation. In this paper there are considered parameters affecting crack width due to action of external load. These are load intensity, mode and duration of load, concrete strength class, steel class, section geometry, type, amount and arrangement of reinforcement. Effective structure arrangement for reducing cracks is to design smaller bars with smaller spacing. Another way can be to use a higher class of concrete.
