Even if the glued wood mass is pretreated with protective agents, cyclic wetting and drying and sun radiation can cause consecutive degradation and depolymerization of the organic adhesive, which would lead to failure of the joint. Using infrared absorption spectroscopy analyses we should be able to reveal irregularities in polymer chains of the adhesives, if a comparative spectrogram of non-degraded sample is available. This paper contains results, which were obtained by testing several samples of wood adhesives exposed to surroundings with degrading influence."@en . . .
