"Presented paper deals with a numerical modelling of the slope stability problem, taking into account mechanical contribution of the root system of planted vegetation. The task is modelled as a 2D plain strain problem, using FEM software package. The goal of the paper is to evaluate the contribution of the root system on the slope stability. Parametric study is performed modelling homogeneous slope with inclination 1:2 in dry condition as well as in fully saturated condition. Root system contribution is modelled, based on the published approaches, using increased cohesion caused by the root system in predefined layer. Thickness of the improved layer corresponds with the reach of the root system. In case of presented parametric study, the maximum thickness is 2,0 m from the terrain surface."@en .
