We focused on outputs of observations of air polluting substances concentrations in one of the cities in the Pardubice region. Constituent observations are described by four sets of attributes. There are set of time attributes, set of air polluting substances concentrations, set of meteorological attributes and set of attributes about locality of observations. We solve problem how to assess to locality an air quality index (AQI) on the basis of various attributes. We proceed according to information of the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute but we deal with specific modeling method - self-organizing map (SOM) in order to assessment of AQI as well.
