"Univerzita Pardubice" . . "This thesis evaluates of the occurrence of the genus Arcobacter in cats and dogs in the Czech Republic. These animals may be carriers of this bacteria and potential sources of human infection. Were collected buccal swabs of animals with tampons and brushes. Based on previous studies, for DNA isolation were used commercially available DNA kits. Samples were analyzed using polymerase chain reaction and evaluated by gel electrophoresis. Were tested 178 bucal swabs, of which 108 samples were from dogs and 70 samples were from cats. Of all the bucal swabs were positive 5. Four samples have been from a dog, one of the cat. In all five positive cases was confirmed the presence of Arcobacter butzleri with using PCR. With repeated sampling, the presence of Arcobacter butzleri was demonstrated in one sample from a dog."@en . "I, S" . "Pardubice" .
