"Cooperation between cartographers and epidemiologists on the issue of the increasing incidence of cancer is an important feature of current developments in both cartography and epidemiology. But how can cartographic visualization and spatial analysis of multivariate health data be used? This paper comments on select opportunities and risks of the principal component analysis (PCA) application in the database of the National Cancer Registry (NCR). Nmbers of bilateral breast cancer in the female population from 1976 to 2005 are processed and visualized. The appropriateness and use of cartographic visualization methods for supporting the decision-making of different user groups is discussed."@en .
