"Humic substances (HS) are ubiquitous natural products of natural organic matter decomposition. We describe in vitro effects of binary mixtures of various HS samples with model compounds from different classes of environmental pollutants in H4IIE-luc cell line. Six out of 12 HS samples activated AhR even at environmentally relevant concentrations (17 mg.l-1), but did not induce full AhR-activation even at excessive concentration. In simultaneous exposure of H4IIEluc cells to HS (17 mg.l-1) and each of the model compounds, TCDD (1.2 pM), PCB126 (0.01nM), benzo[a]pyrene (40nM), benzo[a]anthracene (240nM), dibenz[a,h]anthracene (1nM) and fluoranthene (40,000nM), either significant additive or facilitative effects were observed when compared to the activities of the single model pollutants. No negative interactions, due to possible sorption of model compounds to HS, were observed."@en . "300711" .
