This study was focused on water macroinvertebrates, which are able to survive in wet upper layers of stream bottom substrate (Gr\u00E1nick\u00FD brook, Czech Republic). Two series of samples in 2 different data was taken from dried brook bottom (area 0,1 m2, into depth 10 cm) in 3 types of consecutive drying-up habitats (pool, riffle, bankzone). In the second sampling date was also taken samples from watered residual pools. The highest densities were found in both series of dried bottom samples in pool habitat, contrary to the lowest densities in riffle habitats. Number of taxa in different habitats did not differ markedly amongst habitats. The most abundant higher taxa groups were Chironomidae (pools), aquatic Clittelata (Eiseniella tetraedra and Enchytraeidae dominated).
