"The paper describes a class scenario based on two versions of an innovative translation activity used in translation seminars taught for two groups of students with two different levels of translation skills, and discusses the advantages of this methodology. They included especially: increased relevance of the learning situations from students' perspective, achieved by targeting the class at the process of their potential professionalization in the field of translation while adhering to a specific and practice-oriented class objective; implicit emphasis on translation quality and communicative function of translation; and focusing students' attention on textual details and the text as a whole simultaneously in an innovative and interactive way.
