"For this research, we obtained sets (at least 50 strains each) of the genera: Leclercia, Kluyvera, Citrobacter and Enterobacter, just as scanty sets (5-9 strains each) of the genera: Providencia, Budvicia and Pragia, from the Reference Laboratory for E. coli and Shigellae of the National Institute of Public Health in Prague. In all the sets, a careful screening was accomplished to detect a production of inhibitory agents into growth medium: of bacteriophages, corpuscular and molecular bacteriocins, microcins and siderophores. A numerical survey af all findings is stated in the table in the part ZC of this report. All the inhibitory agents found were closely investigated by accessible analytical methods of microbiology and molecular biology. This investigation brought new aspects of the general knowledge on them. The most important general conclusions of our research may be shortly summarized as follows.
