"In the ritual observances of the Celtic local Churches there were greater or smaller differences. Two Books of outstanding importance which bear witness to the Irish liturgy have been preserved. They are the Antiphonary of Bangor and the Stowe Missal. Both are of monastic origin. The Antiphonary of Bangor is a collection of antiphons, hymns, canticles and versicles. The Antiphonary was composed between 680 and 691. It is quite possible that the Stowe Missal was composed for the monastery of Tallaght in the first decade of the 9th century. The content of the Stowe Missal shows that it has affinities with the Church in Gaul and also that it was influenced by the liturgies of Spain, Milan, and Rome."@en . .
