"The European joint research project %22Increasing cancer treatment efficacy using 3D brachytherapy%22 is a three-year project carried out in cooperation with European national metrology institutes and co funded by the European Community\u2019s Seventh Framework Program for research and technological development. The goal of the project is to improve the measurement and standardization of dose-to-water rate by brachytherapy sources. The Czech Metrology Institute takes part in this project and, in its scope, develops a technique for measurement of relative 3D dose-to-water distributions by BT sources using radiochromic gel dosimeters. The optical cone beam computed tomography (CT) method is exploited for evaluation of irradiated gels. The principle of the used methods and the construction of the optical CT scanner are presented, and the information on the radiochromic gels are stated - the Fricke gel with xylenol orange ion indicator and a gel based on Turnbull blue dye."@en .
