"Along the meandering river valley, incised into the magmatic and metamorphic rocks of Moldanubicum and Moravicum, fluvial sediments and disintegrated rocks were sampled and heavy minerals typical for the area were extracted. In samples from 86 localities, 23 minerals were identified. In selected cases (e.g. garnet), chemical analyses were done. In the next part of the work, assemblages of heavy minerals from older Dyje sediments and young flooding sediments were compared. On the basis of mineral grain morphology and assemblage similarity, the possibilities of heavy minerals transport from primary source rocks or from secondary placers attacted by flooding were studied. During the documentation of erosion along the Dyje valley, four diagonal profiles of river beds were charakterized.
