"In this study we characterised gut microbiota of chickens before and after the administration of antibiotics. In the first experiment we characterised gut microbiota of 15-week-old layers prior and two days after antibiotic therapy with streptomycin or tetracycline. In the second experiment we described gut microbiota of 46-weeks-old laying hens. The hens were subjected to two days of therapy which was repeated for additional two days after 12 days of antibiotic withdrawal. This enabled us to characterise dynamics of the changes after antibiotic administration and to identify bacteria repeatedly resistant to streptomycin and tetracycline. Pyrosequencing of PCR amplified V3/V4 variable regions of 16S rRNA genes showed that microbiota were composed mainly by representatives from 5 phyla - Proteobacteria, Firmicutes, Bacteroidetes, Fusobacteria and Actinobacteria. Microbiota composition of 15-week-old layers and 46-week-old laying hens was different since counts of representatives of Lactobacillaceae formed dominant part of microbiota in the second experiment. Complexity of gut microbiota decreased up to 94 in older hens after antibiotic administration and representatives of Enterobacteriaceae and Enterococcaceae were repeatedly resistant to both antibiotics"@en .
