"Mannheimia haemolytica is the important causative agent of pneumonia of calves and of other domestic ruminants. Large application of antimicrobial agents in prevention and treatment of respiratory infection of calves is associated with bacteria resistance to these substances. The development of antimicrobial resistance of M. haemolytica was no investigated in Czech Republic so far. A total of 43 M. haemolytica isolates were obtained from 30 cattle farms during 2004 to 2005. The minimum inhibitory concentrations of antimicrobials were detremined by a broth dilition micro-method. The isolates were resistant to streptomycin (69.8 %), ampicillin (48.8 %), tetracycline (44.2 %), oxolinic acid (34.9 %), gentamicin (20.9 %), cephalotin (18.6 %), sulfamethoxazol-trimethoprim (9.3 %) and ampicillin-sulbactam (2.3 %). The multiresistances were observed in 53.5 % isolates of M. haemolytica. None of the isolates was resistant to cefuroxim, cefotaxim, chloramphenicol and ciprofloxacin."@en . . .
