"The submitted paper aims at informing the wide expert public about the development and application of new technologies in obtaining relevant bathymetry data on watercourses and reservoirs. The authors present partial outcomes of research focused on the acquisition of complex data sets combining field measurement results with results from the measurement of the floor of watercourses and reservoirs.The paper introduces technologies based on the application of RiverSurveyor M9, which is an automated profiling device operating on the principle of Doppler phenomenon, which serves to measure the water flow rate in natural channels. The device serves for the measurement of depth, and for an automated calculation of total flow rate, stream cross section and average flow rate.
