Mesenchymal stem cells (MSC) are multipotent cells capable to repaire damaged mesenchymal and hematopoietic tissue. The study of MSC is currently on the rise due to their promising potential in regenerative medicine as the source material for tissue replacement and transplantation. The use of MSCs must precede their detailed characterization on cellular and molecular level. For this purpose a new panel of mRNA specific primers amplifying the selected genes characteristic for equine MSC was designed. This panel contains primers for the markers CD29, CD73, CD90, CD105, CD106, CD146, CD166 and TFPI-2.
