"The effect of different water reserves in soil profile on the root growth of winter wheat was studied in model-plot field experiment in years 2004 - 2007. Different water supply was reached in spring due to different weather conditions in experimental years. From the flowering wheat was covered up before the rain (inadequate supply of water - S) and part of the crop was irrigated by drip irrigation (sufficient water supply - V). In all experimental years greater root length was observed in treatment V in the upper 40 cm soil layer, on average by 35 %. In the layer 50-90 cm significantly greater root length of wheat was found on the variant in the years 2004 and 2005. In the years, the greatest difference in water volume between the two variants was observed (45 % and 55 %)."@en .
