The species is known for its ability of producing trichothecenes, mainly deoxynivalenol and its derivates. 105 F. graminearum isolates were isolated from naturally infected wheat ears from 20 localities of the Czech Republic. DON content was determined in ground ears by ELISA. Trichothecene production ability was detected using PCR assays for Tri3, Tri7 and Tri13 genes.
