The role of the forecrops on winter wheat yields are documented by 10-year results from the long-term experiment with various crop rotations and two nitrogen application rates (100 and 160 kg N/ha, respectively). Unambiguously the best foregoing crops were clover and pea (mean wheat yield 9,0 t/ha) and also corn manured by farmyard manure, when higher N application rate for wheat was used. The lowest yields were obtained after winter wheat in a rotation with 75% of cereals (7,1 and 8,0 t/ha, respectively) and in a winter wheat monoculture (6,0 and 7,3 t/ha, respectively). An influence of interannual weather differences on yields was the lowest after clover, and yield stability was approximately the same also after corn (with higher N rate for wheat)."@en . . .
