"Research Institute of Crop Production, dept. of gene-bank, workplace in Olomouc is according to the National Programme on Conservation and Utilization of Plant Genetic Resources and Agrobiodiversity responsible for care of genetic resources of vegetables and medicinal, aromatic and culinary plants (MAPs). Altogether 9,604 genotypes (8,985 accessions of vegetables and 619 MAPs; status on 31.10.2006) are in collection and 45% of them are cross-pollinated, semi cross-pollinated etc. Development of a special methodology for regeneration in required quality was therefore necessary. Because of size and structuring of the field, the space isolation is not possible. Since 1985, regeneration of these species is carried out in technical isolators so-called isolation cages. To decrease working demand, the insects-pollinators (honey-bees, bumble-bees, syrphid flies) are used in isolation cages and each species was tested for diverse crops.
