"Success of strip-seeding depends on seeding technology and also on the selection of proper varieties of legumes. Small trial plots with strip-sown legumes were established at the site at Jevicko, Czech Republic with a working prototype of strip-seeding machine (grass sward was tilled in 150 mm deep and wide strips and the span was 450 mm with a sowing mechanism yjord) (plot area 10 m2, 4 replications). Strip-seeding was carried out into temporary grassland in year 2000. Red clover was the most successful among the strip-sown species into grassland, it had 30 \u2013 47 % proportion in dry matter production in 2003 and 12 \u2013 33 % in the dry year 2003, when tetraploid varieties had higher proportion in the sward, especially variety Beskyd and newly bred variety (nbv) RH than diploid variety T\u00E1bor, then followed by alsike clover (17, resp. 7 %), alfalfa (13, resp. 6 %), white clover (15, resp. 4 %), the least successful was sainfoin (8, resp. 4 %).
