"Heavy minerals represent a good tool for determination of the source area of stream sediments. Studied sediment derivated from upper part Hodon\u00EDnka river drainage area contain the following mineral association: garnets + amphiboles + Al2SiO5 minerals + ilmenite (content of other minerals is below the 6 vol. %). The studied part of the Hodon\u00EDnka river drainage area is located in the rocks of the Poli\u010Dka Crystalline Complex, Moravian micaschist zone and Ole\u0161nice Unit of Moravicum. Chemical compositions garnet, amphibole, ilmenite and staurolite from possible source rocks and studied river sediment shows remarkable similarity. In the case of small and geologically simple drainage area river Hodon\u00EDnka, this method even allows to approximately quantify degree the share of the individual source rock types on the modal composition of the heavy minerals in the sediments."@en .
