"In the Bohemian Karst, a small karstic region located SW of Prague, assemblages of heavy minerals have been studied in allochtonous sandy cave sediments. For a comparison, surface localities of Quaternary age (river terraces), Tertiary age (fluvial sands of rivers, alluvial plains and lakes) and Cretaceous age (freshwater lake and shallow-water marine sediments) have been included in the study. Quaternary sediments, both at surface outcrops and within caves, are characterized by abundant unstable heavy minerals (hornblende, pyroxens, garnets, biotite, etc.). Tertiary sands of surface localities occurring at higher elevations are characterized by abundant andal.+sillim.+kyanite, lower content of tourmaline, and by lower d18O values of quartz, while surface localities at lower elevation are dominated by tourmaline and show higher d18O values of quartz. Cretaceous rocks are characterized by high abundance of rutile, zircon and Fe and Ti secondary minerals."@en . . "639010" . .
