"The project deals with relationships between school achievement, Children's Depression Inventory (CDI), intelligence, and neuropsychological variables in children aged 9-11 years (N=814) from 14 Prague elementary schools. The percentage of the sample (4,5%) that scored above the recommended cut off in CDI had worse grade point average when compared to the rest of the sample. The Czech language grade, mathematics grade and total grade point average related especially to intelligence, further to depressive symptoms and partially to neuropsychological variables. The variables together explained higher portion of school results in girls (24% to 32%) than in boys (17% to 24%). Our results suggest: 1) Intelligence works as a better predictor of school achievement than neuropsychological tests; 2) Detecting depressive symptoms is a needed component of assessment of child's problematic school achievement; 3) The variables registered can explain approximately 1 of the school achievement."@en .
