"The aim of the study is to compare constructed wetland treatment efficiency during vegetation and non-vegetation period. Horizontal-flow constructed wetlands are advanced type of extensive technologies in the Czech Republic especially in municipalities under 500 PE. Treatment processes of these extensive technologies are significantly affected by external conditions as wastewater temperature, air temperature or vegetation occurrence. Altogether six constructed wetlands size of 100 to 800 PE were monitored and evaluated, including hydraulic load assessment. Average annual treatment efficiency range from 80,0 % to 98,2 % for suspended solids (SS), from 59,4 % to 88,5 % for COD, from 86,5 % to 93,0 % for BOD5 and from -16,1 % to 65,1 % for NH4-N. Different treatment efficiency in vegetation and non-vegetation period is exhibited by unstable NH4-N elimination whereas variation of organic pollution elimination is not so significant."@en .
