"In the framework of the bilateral Czech-German project 'Humine Substances in the Ore Mountains' aimed at the issue of higher inputs of humine substances to the water-supply reservoirs in the Ore Mountains (on the Czech as well as German sides of the border), the content of organic substances in waters of the reservoir Fl\u00E1je and its tributaries was monitored. The aim of these activities was, inter alia, to characterize in more detail the present humine substances with the technique of gel chromatography and the methods of determining the biological degradability (BDOC) and assimilability (AOC) of organic carbon (DOC). The results of this monitoring have so far shown that 60-85 % of the dissolved organic carbon (DOC) in waters of the reservoir and its tributaries consists of humine substances. The relative aliquots of humine substances escalate with higher DOC contents, especially during the rain periods. It was established that approximately 10-16 % of DOC in waters of the reservoir were biodegradable."@en .
