"The article focuses on distribution of Ips duplicatus, the double-spined spruce bark beetle in the Czech Republic. The first record comes from the eastern part of the country. Because of its importance as one of the most damaging bark beetle species of spruce stands in northeastern part of Czechia, monitoring of this species was carried out in 1997, 1998, 2000, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009 in state forests. The experimental lure of ipsdienol and E-myrcenol were used in trapping during 1997 and 1998. At that time, these two were the only known components of the aggregation pheromone for I. duplicatus. From 2005 to today, the commercial pheromone evaporator ID Ecolure is being used as a trap. The various state forest units represent ca 60% of the area of Czech forests but they cover the country evenly and thus the monitoring covered the whole area." . .
