"Water component of the mountain forests with Norway spruce and European beech stands was subjected to complete hydropedologic analysis on the experimental area De\u0161tensk\u00E1 str\u00E1\u0148 hillside in the Orlick\u00E9 hory Mts. For appraisal of soil water dynamics the methods of soil physics were chosen: classic methods of analyses on the one hand and retention curves analyses on the other hand. As a resultant appraising variable we chose the retention capacity of forest soil first dynamic represented by gravitational pore capacity second static represented by capillary pore capacity characterized by currently movable capillary water. Potential of soil water dynamics assessed by the retention capacity was high and showed ability of forest soils to attenuate considerably floods induced in mountain conditions both by storms of high intensity and by long-term rainfalls of large yield with lower intensity."@en .
