"The article is dealing with both the summer drought period and soil moisture availability during these periods. An investigation was carried out within watershed called \u201CU Dvou lou\u010Dek\u201D situated in the Orlick\u00E9 hory Mts. The precipitation and soil moisture pressure measurements were interpreted. If the drought period lasts for more than 14 days, the soil moisture decreases whilst soil suction pressure reaches value of decreased moisture availability (70 kPa; pF 2,8; water tensiometer Locus); especially in depth 30 to 45 cm. But this process doesn\u2019t appear within entire investigated plot; only in particular points. The decrease mentioned above during May and June influences negatively shallow-rooting spruce thickets; especially plantations newly planted. Trees situated in parts of watershed with deep ground water can\u2019t reach to utilize it for growing. Thus the individuals depend mainly on precipitation supply. A capillarity action doesn\u2019t reach a root layer."@en .
