Acoustic emission sensors were placed along the spar flange and emission sources are localized linearly. The fatigue crack detection was complicated by presence of many sources not related to fatigue, such as buckling and releasing of riveted and bolted joints, and elastic wave transmitting through the complex thin-plated structure." .
